LOL ... there is that!

One thing about older men ... it might take them longer to get erect and to be ready, but once they get going, they last longer. No Quick Draw McGraw smile

Do older guys lose sensation or is just that their experience enables them to last longer?

Well, I don't know the answer to that. I would think it's the experience, but I guess I don't know for certain.

The man I'm seeing now certainly doesn't have any difficulty reaching climax, which would tend to make me think he hasn't lost any sensation.

Our bodies tend to slow down a bit as we grow older. Save for few exceptions decreased sensitivity and geting older go hand in hand. But than again, it has a lot to do with better understanding of how things work, better control, and - perhaps more than anything else - realzation that the finishing line is not the goal but the race itself.

As for how long it should last - for as long as it it mutually pleasurable and satisfying. And satisfaction doesn't have to involve orgasm/ejaculation.
How long that is can and does vary from partner to partner and even with the same partner, dependant on many circumstances.
I've known partners who could 'enjoy' for 20 minutes or so, with variations in 'speed' and positions, before orgasming or being satisfied (not necessarily having an orgasm) but when really 'in the mood' could be completely, exhaustedly, satisfied from a less than 2 minute 'quickie'.

Satisfaction/pleasure are themselves such variable things and I think change with experience, for both men and women - knowledge, control, consideration and most importantly learning that pleasure/satisfaction given can immeasurably increase that that is just taken, to the point where the eventual ejaculation/orgasm, if it is in deed reached, is just an added, although welcome 'bonus'.

As for the age thing.
At 55 I do take longer to reach full erection (but getting there can be 'fun' with an understanding and knowledgeable partner) but do eventually get as hard and full as I ever did. I have certainly not lost any sensitivity and have no problems with cumming but I can now control when it happens, almost to being able to 'produce on command' - when my partner is ready/satisfied/had enough. Admittedly when it happens it is not as copious or 'powerful' as it use to be but it is still very enjoyable and satisfying.
As my, hopefully permanent, partner is only 38 and obviously not wanting children, not wanting the pill and hating condoms I had a sperm count done and it is now low enough to 'risk it' at all but 'peak times'. 'Recovery time' has increased to over an hour. Up to my 30s sometimes I didn't 'lose' it and once I'd got my breath and senses back could keep going - and re this thread, sometimes inconsiderately not always to the pleasure of my partner. The 5 or 6 times a night sessions have long gone - twice is now my limit, maybe 3 if really 'encouraged'. Happily due to my 'lasting' and 'cum when ready' abilities this is enough to keep my partner satisfied and happy.

My wife really doesn't like more than about ten minutes. She orgasms unstoppably with penetrative sex and after a few she is satisfied enough and would prefer it to stop.

Whereas with all this encouragement I would rather keep going.

JipTu, great post - right on target. We sound pretty similar, although it doesn't take me any longer to get hard than it used to. Like you, I can now go for a long time such that I usually end up speeding up to get done when my partner has had enough, unless I haven't had it in awhile. My recovery time and ability to cum two or maybe three times in one long night is about the same as you.

One thing I really like now is being able to make long, delicious love such that she becomes delirious over time. Try Levitra: even if you're like me and don't need it to get hard or have sex cure impotence, it makes for a very fun long night of repeated sessions without the side effects of Viagra (so I've been told).
